Baron is a “once-in-a-life-time” boy who has taken me on an incredible eight year journey. From the start he has surpassed everyone’s expectations, becoming one of the most versatile Golden Retrievers in Canada. Baron combines the best of the best of established English and American lines.  This boy is everything a Golden should be.  He is lovely to look at, talented, a silly clown, loves everyone and is a joy to live with.  He achieved his Junior Hunter easily at 9 months, WCX, CD and Senior Hunter before he was 2, CDX at 2 years old and Master Hunter shortly after his third birthday.  He has since gone on to gain his Master Hunter title in the States, a Canadian Grand Master Hunter title and has received several Judge’s Awards of Merit and a Reserve Judge’s Award of Merit in Qualifying field trials in Canada.

2017 saw us as one of only six teams that qualified in Canada’s week long National Master Hunt Test held in Balmoral, Manitoba. In September of that year we were one of 12 teams out of an entry of 68 to qualify in the Golden Retriever Club of America’s Qualifying field trial held at their National Specialty in Maryland.

In the spring of 2018 Baron and I completed our Grand Master Obedience Trial Championship and then went on to second, third and fourth place ribbons in various Qualifying field trials in Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick.  We finished off the summer by qualifying a second time in the Canadian National Master Hunt test held in Brooklyn, Nova Scotia.

In addition to his field and obedience talent, Baron is a beautifully structured boy. Bred and co-owned by Shelly Blom of Sterre Kennels, he is an owner-handled Canadian Show Champion.

Baron has brains, drive, trainability and loves to work.  He is a joy as a companion with his wonderful sense of humour and on-off switch that is one of the hallmarks of the best retrievers.  He has great water courage and is extremely biddable.  He approaches life with confidence and joy.  Every day is an adventure with this boy. Cudos to Shelly for having the foresight and courage to breed this wonderful litter.

Baron's puppies with Ginnie Pastor's Morningstar Water Marker DS WCX CCA (https://www.k9data.com/pedigree.asp?ID=550887) are showing both depth and consistency at 2 1/2. Amongst those doing outstanding work are my Tess (Morningstar Baroness O' Lynwood Can SH WCX ***), Max (Morningstar Bold Explorer CD SH WCX), owned and loved by Angela Chamberlain in Ottawa, Ontario and Blaze (Morningstar Blaze of Glory CDX AX MXJ XF) owned and loved by Sandy Baron Washburn in New York.
